The Grassroots Group Send the Bishops a Message Announces Parish Messenger Program

Tucson, AZ – June, 15, 2010

______

The grassroots group Send the Bishops a Message announces its Parish Messenger Program. This program will leverage the group’s Internet roots and facilitate getting the group’s messages out in hard copy and by e-mail to the largest number of Catholics possible, the group’s national director Frank Douglas said today.

Parish Messengers will work in groups of two or three or four at their local parish to distribute Send the Bishops a Message flyers to weekend Mass attendees. Parish Messengers will work in groups because there is safety in numbers and to provide support to each other. The Parish Messengers will be courteous to all Mass attendees and will not force the flyers on any one. They will respect parish property and will not distribute flyers within church property boundaries. They will distribute flyers on public property, e.g., at entrances to and exits from church parking lots. They will also distribute flyers to fellow parishioners via e-mail. The Send the Bishops a Message website is the source of official Send the Bishops a Message flyers.

Parish Messengers will begin their work the weekends of June 19-20 and June 26-27. The Peter’s Pence Penny Flyer they will distribute is currently on the Send the Bishops a Message website ( http://www.sendthebishopsamessage.com/peterspenceflyer1.html ).

The Peter’s Pence Penny Flyer is also available in MS Word format by sending an e-mail to Frank Douglas at frankdouglas62@yahoo.com.

People interested in becoming Parish Messengers should contact one of the people named below and provide their name, parish, home town, state, phone number, and e-mail address.

Send the Bishops a Message ( http://www.sendthebishopsamessage.com/index.html ) is a grassroots group of Catholics deeply disappointed, saddened, and exasperated about the ongoing failure of church officials to protect children from dangerous clerical predators and to discipline bishops and religious superiors who enable and protect these clerical criminals.
